Coach Kabir Khan (played by SRK) tames an underdog and poorly rated women’s hockey team of girls to victory in the World Hockey Championship. In the movie, he brings together young girls from different Indian states to play together as one team. The bearded coach Khan also redeems his failed hockey career as a successful mentor to the girls. The film earned brownie points across all award ceremonies and broke box office records.
Sanjeev Kumar in Sholay
Two goons called Jai and Veeru help retired cop Thakur avenge his family’s death by killing infamous dacoit named Gabbar Singh. During the chase, both Jai and Veeru played by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra discover a mentor in Thakur played by Sanjeev Kumar. The iconic movie of the 70s, Sholay continues to regale all generations even today.
